Painted on location in Tikal, Guatemala, this sketch captures the awesome grandeur of these ancient ruins! This 6” x 12” watercolor was completed on 140 lb cold-press paper. I scouted this location in the morning during a hike with my family, then returned to the spot and sketched it JUST before the afternoon rains came in.

Notice the size of the people at the bottom of the sketch? These temples, made of cut limestone blocks, are truly colossal.
